Yesterday I watched the Presidential Inauguration like most of the world. I definitely am amazed as to how far we've come in the past 60 years to have a person of color as President.
But what moved me on such a deeper level was watching such a smooth transition of power from one person to another.
How blessed are we to live in a country where all the past leaders can get together,
support one another,
teach one another,
and bless and pray for the "new guy" without violence or a coup?
It made me so proud to see all the former presidents walk out one by one, take their seats and watch the inauguration of the new president. If there was any animosity or hard feelings, none were shown. Just support and praise for Mr. Obama. It was beautiful.
It also moved me to hear Martin Luther King's speech the day before saying:
" I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
And then watching the next day a man named Barack Husein Obama - a man of color with a name that might get him profiled at the airport - take the oath of office of President of the United States of America.
He was judged by the content of his character, and a nation approved.
