Green Acres is the Place To Be...Farm Living Is The Life For Me!
As many of you know, we are currently on our summer vacation. Before we headed too far down the road, we decided to stop at the East Texas property to clean some items out of the house and do some general household chores. When we arrived, the house was really hot. We turned the air down and things didn't get much better. Thank goodness the A/C guy could get to the house quickly to help us out. After two hours and two replaced A/C fans later, we finally had cool air. It only took two more hours for the house to cool down! UGH!
After that we noticed the toilet was leaking every time it was flushed. So, off we go to Home Depot for a new toilet. That was finally installed by DH around midnight.
Today the insurance guy came by to check on the roof. Turns out we needed one badly and they agreed to pay for a new roof! Yee Haw! Then, we started smelling gas. After calling the gas company, we were told there was a gas leak coming from the gas meter. It was immediately shut down and a plumber was called to replace the meter (why the gas company doesn't do that, I'm not quite sure). After waiting all day for the plumber to arrive, he gets there and gives us the great news that, due to the house being so old, we are going to have to re-run all the gas lines in the house for a tune of about 3K! YIKES!
It has been a crazy and exhausting couple of days. In between all the falling apart and fixing back up of the house, we cleaned out closets and drawers, the storeroom and made a trip to the dump and Goodwill. With no hot water in the house and no way to cook dinner (the stove and oven both run on gas!) we were rescued by Michael and Cathy! Thanks cousins! They provided a great place to stay, wonderful food and a hot shower!
Hopefully the rest of our trip is not this exciting! More later down the road!
Also, Happy 4th of July!
